Our Process
BCSWebstudio works on a variety of projects, but our strength and passion is in web and kiosk interface design and development. Use our expertise to guide you to focus on your requirements and navigate through available technology to provide off the shelf and custom solutions to serve your needs.
This is our process, because it is a collaboration between BCSWebstudio and you.
BCSWebstudio will create the website you have always desired, so the first step in your development process with BCSWebstudio is to engage in a dialogue to distill the project’s specific goals, target audience, and focus. Our web and kiosk development projects are developed in three easy-to-understand phases.
Design
The design phase involves engaging in dialog over emails, phone, or in person to assess the project requirements, target audience, and focus. During this phase, we will share a series of evolving iterations of mock-up graphic layouts. Before or during the design mock-up process, we will also discuss effective information architecture (how the content is structured and presented) and user interface and navigation. Most times, nothing is coded until the design phase is finalized or very near completion.
Development
The development phase follows our road map composed in the previous design phase, and the product is built. BCSWebstudio takes the static mock-ups and site navigation plan and builds out the website or kiosk. HTML and CSS are carefully constructed to match our proposed graphic layout as well as readability by both human web surfers and search engine robots by adhering to good search engine optimization (SEO) techniques. At this time, the site skeleton is also built out to match the navigational structure devised during the design phase. Depending on our agreement, some, all, or stub content is used to fill the website.
Hosting, Maintenance, and Support
When a website is "published," it needs to sit on a server somewhere out on the web so others can visit it. BCSWebstudio hosts on Virtual Private Servers (VPS) for low cost, high speed, and high availability of your website. A VPS is a virtual server provided by third-party hosts. It is a step between shared hosting (shared resources and sometimes less secure but cheap) and dedicated hosting (fastest but overkill for most projects and more expensive).
With BCSWebstudio, maintenance and support are always included in your hosting fee. Depending on your needs, maintenance may involve ongoing training or just a touch-base or question answered now and again. Included in regular maintenance is application of security patches for software used and regular website backups, so you can be worry free.
An Additional Note on Deployment
If a client already has some existing website or kiosk, and our work is to augment or replace it, we will usually be able to do all our development off-site so as to keep the forthcoming changes away from the public and to keep the existing services running, unhampered. Often it is the case that an existing website must be maintained in its existing state while a new site is being developed: this is also not a problem.
Deployment simply refers to the publishing or installation of the end product to make it available to its users. Part of deployment will be implementing any custom requests such as private FTP and email@domain.
BCSWebstudio will be with you and guide you from start to finish with all your web and kiosk needs.
